We’ve found it: natural haircare that’s good to the earth and your wallet
Since having young ones, I only buy gentle bath and household products for my family, as I’m very conscious of limiting harsh chemicals on their delicate skin. I was sent these to try by New Zealand company Earthwise and I am now using them daily on the family at bathtime. You may already know the brand for their household and also body products. I wrote about the new Earthwise body and bath products on Threadnz here and now they’ve released a line of haircare, too.
This is great news, as shampoo and conditioner is something we go through a lot of, and this is really reasonably-priced. They retail for $7.49 each at supermarkets, making it super-convenient to pick up on your grocery shop.
Something to suit
The Nourish shampoo and conditioner come in three varieties: Revitalise, for dry and damaged hair; Protect, for colour-treated hair; and Balance, for normal hair. I’ve just washed my hair with Revitalise shampoo and conditioner which were great and I’ll be using it on my kids.
What I liked about it
As I mentioned above, when I look for a product for my family I want it to be gentle and as close to nature as possible to minimise the load on their bodies. These products are paraben free, phosphate free, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES) free. They do not contain nitrates, chlorine, ammonia or phosphates.
The shampoo and conditioners smell quite fresh and herbal, rather than too flowery, which is useful as they’re not too florally for the men to use as well. They have coconut oil, aloe vera, argan oil, and other botanicals to nourish (as the name suggests!)
As well as being fully recycleable, the packaging is white and modern looking, and the colours are clean and simple and look really nice in the bathroom. It’s so annoying when you feel you have to decant everything into other bottles but these already look stylish and contemporary.
NZ owned brand
Lastly, if you feel strongly about supporting local businesses rather than multinationals, Earthwise is a New Zealand-owned and operated business with a sustainable philosophy for the environment, and employs people locally.
