Andrea Moore – No Guts No Glory SS 16
Jess Molina reviews Andrea Moore – No Guts No Glory SS 16 show at NZ Fashion Weekend for Thread, with photography by Annupam. Read about the show…
“Wow, I’m so glad that Spring Summer 16 has a lot of black” was the first thing that came to mind at the Andrea Moore / I AM show on Saturday at New Zealand Fashion Weekend. The show opened with an army of models strutting down a glass runway, lights dimmed, with glass-shattering sounds in the soundtrack.
The dimmed lights and softly illuminated runway indeed set the mood for the show. For SS 16, we saw a lot of black with pops of colour on the print. It’s perfect for people like me who wear predominantly darker colours, but still also want something lighter for the season. While majority of the collection was on the darker side of the colour palette, there were still shades of blues and khakis this season.
Then there was the styling. Rolled cuffs on the trousers, gold shoes, hiked up sweaters revealing mesh covered stomachs and mesh leggings. The rest of the look was kept simple with pushed back hair for that slightly undone look. All these together made for some pretty unforgettable looks.
Stand out pieces were the Iris Luxe Mysterious Dress, Stud Diva Gold, Glamorous Gold Leaf Jacket, and the dot mesh.
I AM – White Oasis
You could tell that I AM is all about celebrating fun with your girl gang the moment the models assembled into a formation as they entered the runway. The nautical and tropical inspired pieces were reminiscent of tines when the sun was out shining, layers were kept to a minimum, and dressing up was a lot less simple. Lucky for us, spring is just around the corner and this new collection from I AM will be available in selected Farmers stores nationwide so we can all grab a piece at our local stores.
The Anchor Me top and Anchor Me pants worn together with a red lip is the stuff dreams are made of, so if you’re looking for the perfect spring look, congratulations- you’ve found it.
