As Lyst notes, it’s impossible to have too many pairs of shoes, and that sentiment couldn’t be truer this season, when there are a plethora of must-have styles to choose from. Whether stilettos, booties, or flats are the footwear in question for the fall, the one prevailing characteristic that each design features is texture. Feminine ruffles, eye-catching sequins, exotic reptile skin, and feather trimming are just a few of the unique accents spotted on shoes this season.

Shades of Purple

Though black is generally thought of as the neutral of winter, why not shake things up this time around? The perfect way to do that, according to The Blonde Salad, is with a dark purple hue, such as aubergine. If the dark shade is a bit too austere for your taste, try pairing it with yellow for a burst of brightness or opt for a lighter, richer shade of purple. A coat is a versatile medium for jewel tones, but dresses that fuse purple with prints are also popular for the fall and winter season. Still not convinced the neutral purple is a go? Just remember, it is the colour historically associated with royalty.
