This week in Trendwatch I check out the Summer trends at ECCO shoes. I headed into the Milford Mall – which is incidentally my favourite Mall as it has independent and local New Zealand retailers instead of the same-same brands one sees everywhere else – and had a peep at the new styles. They were so hot-off-the-press in fact that the staff were literally unpacking boxes of shoes as I visited. I know – BOXES OF SHOES, that made me excited, too.
So, new for Spring Summer 2014 we see the slightly oxymoronic-sounding ‘bright pastels’, or what we call in fashion, ‘gelato shades’ of intense lemons, reds, and powder blue. Metallic is back again which is great news as I love a metallic shoe for going with absolutely everything you can’t otherwise match a colour to.
Footwear designer Kaja Bartel says her inspiration came from a sense of happiness and a positive outlook for the future, characterized by straight clear lines and strong colours such as ‘dynasty blue’ and ‘teaberry pink.’
Here are highlights from Summer season’s Dress Comfort Collection from the brand that began in Scandinavia in 1953 and carries on the Scandinavian tradition of function and form in its shoes that are both stylish and comfortable. The idea behind the Dress Comfort Collection was a woman who balance the conficting demands of work and family with ‘wall-to-wall lifestyles’ and carry it off with grace and style.
