About Thread
Thread.co.nz is a fashion and culture website which has been operating since 2001 in Auckland, New Zealand. The online magazine primarily focuses on New Zealand fashion and style with sections on local art and culture, hair and beauty, film, and music. There is a special fondness for promoting upcoming talent, and a special feature on New Zealand Fashion Week each year as well as covering launches and fashion shows during the year.
About the Editor
Thread’s Editor Megan Robinson started the website named for her boutique, Thread, on Auckland’s North Shore. Previously, she had another boutique, Sun Clothing, in Hamilton for four years selling high-end New Zealand labels. Robinson has a Business Management (BMS) degree with Japanese language and a Post Graduate Diploma with Distinction in Public Relations, both from Waikato University. She lives in Auckland with her husband, two young children, and two Tonkinese cats.
The path to having an online fashion magazine was a short one. “To come up with the idea at the start, I had a brainstorming session and thought about different concepts for a website. I enjoy shopping and looking at interesting stuff on the web, so thought that others would enjoy it, too. I talked to various people and had an overwhelming response. Yes, it would be a great idea to look into. I had the site developed and built and it became a reality.”
“My vision is to take Threadnz to be the first port of call for readers when they think ‘New Zealand fashion’.”
