Design and communications agency The Church announced Chris Graham and Rafaël Rozendaal will take the stand at We Can Create, a symposium for creative industry professionals at Auckland’s Aotea Centre 26-27 August 2011.
New Zealander Chris Graham is best known as the Director of Sione’s Wedding and his talents extend to making feature films, tv commercials and music videos. He is joined by visual web artist Rafaël Rozendaal from Brazil.
The festival organisers also announced the withdrawal of both Taika Waititi and Usman Haque.
“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce Taika Waititi has to pull out of WCC this year due to production delays on his new MTV sitcom. We struggled in vain to work around his revised schedule but were unable to get flights back in time for the event. Of equal disappointment is Usman Haque being forced to cancel his appearance due to medical reasons. Everyone at WCC would like to thank both Taika and Usman for their support this year and wish Usman a speedy recovery,” says The Church’s Creative Director, Jon Raymen.
The line-up of 11 speakers who will be sharing their passion, perspectives and practices at We Can Create include Kris Sowersby, the kiwi typographer who won a Certificate of Excellence from the Type Designers Club in New York; Karin Fong from Imaginary Forces, named one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People; KesselsKramer, the leftfield Amsterdam advertising and publishing agency behind campaigns for Nike, Parool and Levi’s; Frank Kozik, credited with single handedly reviving the “lost” art of the concert poster; Morag Myerscough, Britain’s multiple award-winning, integrated graphic design powerhouse; Eric Rodenbeck from Stamen Design, whose mission is to extend the boundaries of online media and live information visualisation, and London-based The Rumpus Room, whose innovation and creativity has seen them combine real world, interactive and social platforms for Coca Cola, Xbox and MAC.

Patrick Reynolds, NZ’s foremost photographer of architecture, renowned for his work with built and unbilt environments. He is also an exibiting photographer represented by Gow Langsford Gallery and John Leech Gallery and has shot for leading practices and publications both in NZ and overseas.
