For one day only, on Saturday 24th July, Auckland Art Gallery will become a hive of crafty goodness as the first ever Auckland Art & Craft Fair takes over its hallowed halls with stalls…
Showcasing a selection of New Zealand’s best independent, contemporary designers, artists and crafters under one roof, the fair will be a giant market rather than an exhibition. Oh, yes! Everything will be for sale.
"It will be a unique shopping experience" says organisers Jessica Whiting and Kylie Richardson. "There is a real focus on quality craftsmanship and creativity."
"Shoppers will be able to discuss the works directly with the person that created it which adds soul and integrity to the purchase, while knowing they are helping to support our local creative industry."
Crafts on sale will include photography, original artworks and prints, jewellery, knitting, sewing, illustrations, accessories, homewares, fashion and many more with a high-end, quality focus. Applications for vendors are currently open and will be closing 14th May 2010, with vendors to be announced after this time.
The fair will go on to be held twice a year, in summer and winter.
