Two Dimensional Life of Her by Fleur Elise Noble
I didn’t really know what to expect when I was offered the chance to attend this show however it exceeded my expectations with a brilliant production of 2&3D visual effects, puppetry, animation, paper and drawing to create a spectacular illusionary experience.
A black and white installation and brilliant lighting display the theatre sat quietly as the sound effects of footsteps, breathing, sweeping of floors and fire took over.
The way the installation would move from the walls to the floor to the moving pieces of paper was just so well done and really is a must-see.
The main character is based on a young girl who ends up searching for her own cut out. Puppets also play a big role, their characters working between the various surfaces creating the story between 2D and 3D.
Fleur Elise Noble is an Australian director/creator of visual-based theatre her background includes a Bachelor of Visual Art (Hons) from Adelaide Central School of Art and she’s spent time studying in New York. Fleur has produced works for the past seven years to audiences all around the world.
Two Dimensional Life of Her is showing at the Aotea Centre as part of the New Performance Festival and ends Tuesday 21st February, 2012, Tickets are $25 adult and $20 senior citizens/students/groups.
This is definitely worth a look if you can catch the last show!
