We talked with New Zealand Makeup Artist Leanne Williams about her online boutique cosmetics website which specialises in importing brands that are often hard to track down here.
How did you get started?
Gracie Lou Cosmetics has been successfully running for half a decade and Leanne took over in March 2013. “I thought it would go nicely alongside my career as a budding makeup artist.” As such, they have a pro makeup artist discount available, as well as an artist directory.
Where is it based?
Gracie Lou Cosmetics is based in Auckland in New Zealand, is 100% NZ-owned company, and operates entirely via online sales, at www.gracielou.co.nz When you purchase items, they are dispatched the very next day and a courier is a flat rate of $4.50 per order, with free NZ shipping on orders over $100.
What brands do you love and sell?
We are authorised retailers of some amazing brands I adore! At the moment, these include (deep breath) Beauty Blender, Concrete Minerals, Real Techniques, SauceBox, Shadow Shields, Sigma, Sweetpea & Fay, Tangle Teezer, The Balm, Wild Candy and Z Palettes. We also stock NYX, Urban Decay, Ardell and Red Cherry Lashes.
We also stock a range of disposable items such as mascara wands, mixing palettes and face charts. Our range is constantly being added to and we always welcome new brand suggestions!
Tell us about the Makeup Artist Directory
Yes, this is really exciting. In February 2014 we launched our Makeup Artist Directory, where New Zealand based makeup artists can have a free listing and the general public can browse and either inquire directly, or go through Gracie Lou Cosmetics to get in touch with artists.
And you have a discount in place for these Artists?
We do. Gracie Lou Cosmetics has also just recently launched their Pro Makeup Artist discount which offers working makeup artists a 20% discount on all Gracie Lou products for an annual subscription fee of $30.00
