NEW  M· A· C  STORE

Readers will know that M·A·C is opening this Thursday at Lot 3, 130 Ponsonby Road. This will be the cosmetic brand’s eleventh store in New Zealand and will no doubt fast become a fave destination for locals getting their makeup fix at the new store. M·A·C has partnered with Rowena Roberts, Red Honey Cosmetics Ltd (retail partner for M·A·C PRO Britomart, M·A·C St Lukes and M·A·C Botany stores) for Ponsonby.

“We are thrilled to be taking M·A·C to Ponsonby Road – it’s exciting to be in the company of an incredible line up of both New Zealand and international designers and provide a location for local M·A·C addicts to keep up to date on makeup trend, tips & tricks with our M·A·C Artists,” says M·A·C Brand General Manager, Tanya Jackson.

M· A· C Prabal Gurung

Fashion designer Prabal Gurung is the newest designer colab for M· A· C  which sees the Nepalese-American designer bring his sense of opulent style to this cosmetics collection. His designs really embody effortless modern glamour, and have been worn by Michelle Obama and the Duchess of Cambridge. This ethos comes though here; gold-standard makeup with his logo emblazoned on the lid and trellis design in relief on the compact and in the golden foil on the eyeliner. It’s glam yet chic and contemporary.

The Prabal Gurung colab sees smoky, gilded hues with lipsticks in Carmine Rouge, Light English red, and Ultramarine Pink. The lipstick shades are replicated again in Lipglasses – a clean true red, sheer beige nude, and midtone dirty violet, respectively.

There is an eyeshadow duo, pictured in Terre with beige and brown, as well as Satin Ochre in white gold and coral, and Cinder in cool grey and charcoal, and just one Eyepencil, in a rich black – because if you’re going to do one eyepencil, it should be black, shouldn’t it?

M· A· C Heirloom Mix

The first thing you notice when you lay eyes on M· A· C Heirloom Mix is the stunning sparkly black packaging. It has two of my favourite things – black, and glitter. If it had bacon as well it would win the trifecta. The feeling behind this whole collection reminds me of the royal court of Elizabeth I, or perhaps, of a modern take by Vivienne Westwood of Elizabeth I.

It has rich, regal reds in burnt deep hues, hot pinks, and bright crimsons, gold pigments for the shine of family jewels and eyeshadows that would put a suit of knight’s armour to shame. All this, packaged up in a constellation of glittery stars on black glossy cases.

Shine in high society and pile on the jewellery and rattle in in applause over these glittering pieces.

M· A· C Keepsakes

Keeping (excuse the pun) with the heirloom theme above, M· A· C Keepsakes also has an upperclass air about it with the regally inspired Keepsakes Brush Kit straight out of Dangerous Liaisons, with its ladylike pearl trim and a white cameo on the zip.

There’s also a black kit and a two-tone brush kit available in the series, all priced at $142.

Mineralize Brush Kit in white has four brushes for face and eyes 187, 130, 286, 287; Studio Brush Kit in two-tone has five brushes for blush, foundation, blending, fluff and eyeliner 129, 190, 224, 213, and 209; and In Extra Dimension Brush Kit in black has four brushes for face, cheek, eyes 127, 128, 234, 235.

Keepsakes is available in New Zealand from 3rd November.
