BEAUTY NEWS
MAC has lots of news. Not only have opened their first New Zealand Lash Bar in Smith & Caughey’s Newmarket, they have added a 30minute makeover to their menu. They have three showbiz colabs too, with Lorde, The Simpsons, and Maleficent. The stunning purple lipstick entitled Pure Heroine has been developed with Lorde, and named for her album, and MAC have just announced a limited edition The Simpsons colour collection coming later in 2014. Speaking of art becoming life, MAC has done the makeup for Angelina Jolie in the starring role of Maleficent in Disney’s film of the Sleeping Beauty villain, which I am attending a screener of shortly – can’t wait. The Maleficent colour collection will be available from M∙A∙C St Lukes and M∙A∙C Botany only, and on counter from 29th May.
FASHION NEWS
Moochi Dress Week this year has collaborations with six stylish women who have created a black dress each for sale. The moochi ‘Style Set’ includes Jessie Bush (wethepeoplestyle.com), Alisa Xayalith (The Naked and Famous), Tanja Gacic (myempiricallife.com), Katherine Lowe (katherineisawesome.com) and Teresa Moore (Elite Models). The stylish set’ dresses all launch in store on Friday 16th May, along with some classic moochi dress styles as part of moochi Winter Dress Week.
Natalie Chan is launching her Couture Bridal collection with an event at Sofitel Auckland in May.
Sera Lilly closed her bridal shop citing foreign imports competition, and has launched a fat2fitnz website that is hugely popular documenting her dramatic weightloss.
COACH launched the new season collection with a VIP party – and of course – Moet. Many a guest could not refuse the charms of buying a beautiful new COACH bag.
Fashion designer Trish Peng showed her debut collection of eveningwear at Giltrap Prestige Porsche showroom on Thursday 9th May.
Australian accessories brand MIMCO is now represented by Showroom22, with SS14 ‘Roxstar Earthgazer’ in a range of bags, footwear, jewellery and lifestyle accessories.
James McCarty is launching a line of jewellery at Walker & Hall under the name, JAMES. He handcrafts thought-provoking word rings and shape rings.
Saben launched their metallics collection with an instore party at Bobbi Brown with mini makeovers, Rekorderlig cider, and oishii sushi from Bien.
Blacklisted magazine released its second ever issue, with interviews with local Creatives in Hamilton working in art, design, fashion and photography.
In PR changes, Wallace Cotton will be looking after their PR in house (after being represented by Sarah Paykel). Ecoya is also taking their PR in house (after being represented by Bare PR).
FOOD NEWS
Taste of Auckland has announced its food festival dates this year will be 13-16th November 2014, and that they’re moving venues from Victoria Park to Western Springs.
Samsung Open Home – The Grove’s Michael Dearth and chef Mike created amazing dishes (below), at the new season electronics launch event for Samsung where we got to see the latest curved screen HDTVs, fridges and washing machines.
Wilder & Hunt held a Pamper Evening with treatments for hands, hair, and nails, and talks by health practitioners on sugar and lifestyle. So many delicious Wilder & Hunt snacks! Below: their Paleo muesli.
The owner of new Paleo food brand Forage and Graze, Cara, popped by Threadquarters with some delectable treats in the cutest packaging. I love their maple and pecan granola. It is dairy-free, nutrient dense, refined sugar-free and grain-free.
I had my portrait drawn – in coffee. I’m now a flat white-blonde, with my portrait drawn by New York coffee artist Michael Breach in a Dolce Gusto coffee using a toothpick, as part of the #dolcegustoart event. Very clever.
FILM NEWS
Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement have launched a poster design competition for the ‘unofficial’ release poster which will be used to promote their film What We Do in the Shadows. This poster will be used in cinemas and streets across the country and the best design, as decided by the vampires and the public, will win a double pass to the New Zealand Premiere in either Auckland or Wellington. The top ten will be on display at the premiere events also. Serious candidates with a high level of design ability are invited to email deliciousnecks@gmail.com to receive the key art and rules.
