Spike a Homer run in the brand new limited edition The Simpsons makeup collection by MAC Cosmetics!
The collection which celebrates a quarter-century of Matt Groening’s hilarious yellow cartoon family is available from 4th September at select MAC locations throughout New Zealand.
I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since I first saw it as a segment in the Tracey Ulman show. It’s gone on to be praised as the best television series of all time, and has raised many issues in American culture and society that would be considered taboo by making fun of them in parody. Many, many celebrities have taken part to be immortalised as cartoon characters. It’s changed a lot and many characters have come and go, but some things remain the same and that includes Homer’s love for Duff beer, Bart getting into trouble, smart sister Lisa, the long-suffering beautiful Marge in her strapless dress and string of pearls, and baby Maggie sucking on her dummy.
So, what’s the makeup like?
Clearly, as with Archie’s Girls range that MAC did honouring that American cartoon of earlier times, you are buying this for the packaging and an emotional connection with the show. And I’m all for that.
The standouts include these nail stickers ($28) with the whole Simpsons family in black on yellow, and the eyeshadow quads in greens and blues.
The powder blush ($52) is embossed with Marge’s signature beehive hairdo and comes in Pink Sprinkles and Sideshow You.
There are 4 Lipglass shades ($42 each) which run the gamut of cartoon bright shades: Nacho Cheese Explosion (neon yellow), Grand Pumpkin (orange), Red Blazer (Fuchsia) and Itchy & Scratchy (violet.)
