There’s very few New Zealand brands still around from 1858 but here’s one that just re-launched: Bing, Harris & Co. The heritage merchants company has re-opened as a menswear fashion label where you get a lot of bing for your buck.
Originally merchant traders who started up in the Southern wool industry boom, the brand closed in the 1970s and has just been resurrected as men’s clothing and footwear in the mid market. Pricepoints are around $40 for trucker caps, $80 for canvas shoes, and lots of two-for deals on polo tees and shirts.
Store outfits have been carefully done with faux bricks flown in from Spain to give a heritage feel and exposed ceilings and iron poles for merchandise.

The designer Alastair said they drew upon old wallpaper prints and Japanese prints for inspiration for their fabric patterns, such as these floral shorts below.
