Great news for aspiring young NZ fashion designers – the influential Westpac Young Fashion Designer Competition is confirmed for its fourth year and you can enter your designs to win…

Each year the winner is announced live at New Zealand Fashion Week. The 2011 winner Georgia Currie (photo left by Julie Roulston) went on to launch her fabulous label, Georgia Alice.

What do they win? A prize package of $5000, an internship at Zambesi, valuable business banking advice from Westpac, and three designers will parade their designs on the catwalk at this year’s NZ Fashion Week.

In 2012 the first prize was won by Jack Hill aged 21, a Bachelor of Design (Fashion) student at Massey University in Wellington.

Want to enter? Send in a portfolio of three looks with your bio and a paragraph on what you’d use the prize towards and enter by 8pm on Wednesday 7 August 2013 at the Westpac Young Fashion Designer Competition official Facebook page www.facebook.com/westpacyoungdesigner

The public will vote for the top ten as selected by a fashion industry panel. Last year’s winner Jack Hill got over ten thousand votes.

Westpac say they are looking for someone with "real potential, passion, vision and a strong aesthetic sense – a designer who is capable of creating inspiring and original clothes that have impact on the runway, without forsaking wearability."
