Some retail life is coming back to Christchurch’s earthquake-ravaged city centre with a temporary pop-up in Cashel Mall anchored by ASB with retailers Yoobee, Ruby, Trelise Cooper, Hunters and Collectors, Johnson’s Grocery, and cafes Hummingbird Coffee and Crafted Coffee.
The Re:Start pop-up retail community initiative is due to open 29th October in Christchurch centre.
"It’s very exciting for the locals and we’re definitely looking forward to re-opening for our RUBY fans!" says Eleisha Balmer, Ruby Brand Manager.
Scheduled to open 7 days a week from October 29, in time for Christchurch’s Cup Week, the retail shopping initiative is the brainchild of the Re:Start the Heart Trust. It will also include a series of weekend concerts in Cashel Mall.
Thought to be a world first, the innovative landscaped central city precinct will feature 27 temporary shops built from new shipping containers. It will showcase a selected mix of retailers and two cafes.
A stage will be set up in the precinct, to host a series of concerts for the seven weekends before Christmas. Known as the ASB Performing Arts Series, visitors to the area will be treated to a broad range of free cultural performances.
