Any brand with the ability to pull people out of the comfort of their home right smack in the middle of Auckland’s crazy, rainy outburst is a legend. With G-Shock’s 30th anniversary underway, the opening of their new Auckland home is nothing short of legendary.
As well as G-Shock, Baby-G, Classic and Edifice have also found refuge in this cozy space along Fort Street (2 Fort Street to be exact). Aucklanders can now end the frustrating search for these Casio timepieces (usually online) because the latest ranges have hit and will constantly reach our shores.
As they opened their doors to everyone last night, the people behind Central made sure everything was done to a T – that’s burgers and Red Bull, a mini runway show and David Dallas performances to boot. Yes, that was worth getting rained on.
For a quick teaser of what’s in store for you, here’s my personal top 4 picks in store.
PICK 1: This candy floss-y coloured Baby-G worked like a time machine when the mere sight of it brought me back to my childhood. I remember back in the 90’s, owning a Baby-G meant something bigger than what is to people nowadays feel like owning an iPhone. Just saying.
PICK 2: I’m currently obsessed with boyfriend watches and this G-Shock would definitely be my preferred sporty take on it.
PICK 3: Need I explain why this two-tone, classic Casio timepiece is in this list? I didn’t think so.
PICK 4: Now this watch was actually worn by one of CENTRAL’s lovely staff and I’m not quite sure if they still sell this but the mere fact that it’s one of Baby-G’s very few square-faced watches is a good enough selling point for me.
Go do yourself a favour and visit Central and see for yourself the lastest collaboration they have in store that is G-Shock x MAHARISHI (among other collaborations). Alternatively for cyber creatures, visit these amazing Casio portals: www.facebook.com/CentralStoreNZ and www.gshocknz.co.nz.
