Faking Fabulous – Couture Beauty was created this year by Donna Malneek of Martinborough after seeing an opening for mobile make-up artists, hair and fashion stylists in the area who could deliver quality service in a friendly and professional manner. Donna took the business from spray tanning to much, much more, in a very short time.
Donna now currently has four staff servicing the Wairarapa/Wellington region, and two based in Auckland, offering all services from weddings to private lessons, and from theatre to film and television, and everything in-between.
“My team is absolutely wonderful" Donna says. "We have a real sense of family, which is so important for the growth and harmony of the business, and we also have a lot of fun doing what we love.”
Donna also offers her extensive knowledge of the area to scout for suitable locations for the film and television industry as well as being involved in fashion and costume design. “I love being creative and coming up with new ideas …. I don’t sleep all that much!"
The business has expanded yet again, this time into model management, and is the first agency in the Wairarapa area. It’s also the only known New Zealand business offering full makeup and SPFX services, professional models for editorial and runway, assistance with film locations, and fashion and costume design. In this way, Donna aims to keep the majority of the industry’s requirements under one umbrella.
