There are a lot of secret treasures in The Deep South, and they’ve just got a little bit more accessible to us all, with Jane Sutherland boutique going live with an online store…

Jane Sutherland, a designer from Central Otago, established her label in 2004 and has stockists in eight stores nationwide. Thread.co.nz covered her label a while back, in article Full Steam Ahead. Now, Jane Sutherland has launched an online store, www.janesutherland.co.nz

"We are very excited about this and hope to create a special place to shop with a real boutique-style feel. The site’s objective is to provide people with the opportunity to purchase garments not available through retail stores. There will be one-off, limited edition designs which will sit alongside certain pieces from current collections. Additionally, there will be a number of accessories that are created directly from the studio in Kingston alongside jewellery from my father Russell Sutherland, Sara Ferry of Gia Jewellery, and select pieces from Company of Strangers."

The addition of an online store to the Jane Sutherland brand is something that Jane hopes will create a place where customers can find something special and a shopping experience they will return to. The future of the online store is something that Jane hopes to develop over time, introducing interesting little doors where special curios and other bits and bobs can also be found. There is also some collaborating underway with an exciting artist or two, so stayed tuned!

Jane says producing a clothing label from Kingston does have a certain degree of difficulties and challenges as it is a little more isolated but with the odd trip to the city it is the perfect balance. With the online store going live, the first sale has been made and a package is happily on its way to London.

Jane invites you to be her guest and visit www.janesutherland.co.nz in the near future – she looks forward to seeing you there.
