The charity Dress for Success is looking for pre-loved office clothes and handbags to dress their many clients.
On Saturday 9th October, the Grey Lynn Community Centre will be open to receive all donations between 10-2pm.
Called inorGLAMics, the event will be more than a drop-off site – there will be pampering stations offering make-up and hairstyling, and the chance to win Auckland’s biggest Pamper Hamper with products from L’Oreal, Maybelline, Redken, Matrix, The Body Shop and West Lynn Boutiques, Dressing Dolls and Dalston.
Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organisation that helps out-of-work women get into the workforce by providing suitable attire.
Julie Mackey, Executive Manager for Dress for Success Auckland, says that most of their clients cannot afford suitable clothing as money goes towards supporting their family and living costs.
“Over 50% of women that come to us have never owned a suit,” Mackey says.
“The clothing is the first step in creating the confidence for these women to get out there and get the jobs they can excel at.”
Dress for Success Auckland dressed more than 1,151 women last year.
