Sophie Burrowes has been keeping very good company lately. So good in fact, she opened a pop-up store to share her stylish friends with us all.
Thread attended the opening of pop-up store In Good Company at 13 Hunter Street, Wellington on Thursday 31 March to check out the Autumn and Winter 2011 ranges by eleven emerging designers. Plenty of sample and seconds were also on offer at likeable price points before they will be introduced into stores such as Belle Bird in Dunedin for the coming cold season.
Wellington and Auckland designers included Sophie Burrowes, Philippa and Alice, Sunday, Gul-K, Celine Rita, Hermione Flynn, Katie-Maree Cole, Jinny Chin Jewellery, Jasmin Sparrow, Falvey, and The Atelier.
Designers favoured silks and light cottons for shirts and floaty dresses. Structured jackets in decadent fabrics also featured. A range of colour was used by designers from neutrals – through olive, salmon and cream – to brighter yellow, teal and checks.
Our favourites included Sophie Burrowes’ ‘Burning Blazer’ from her London is Burning collection. Sophie is pictured above left, with her friend Steph wearing Sophie Burrowes’ ‘Rainy Day’ dress), a beautiful Katie-Maree Cole teal blue silk and cotton top $113 and a Phillipa and Alice cream dress $120.

Guests, induced into a fashionable mood with Stolen Rum cocktails, were also lucky enough to view brand new illustrations and prints by Becca O’Shea.
