The Keep- definition: the Keep is the centre structure and stronghold inside a medieval castle.

Deciding to make the move to Auckland three months ago, Wellington fashion designer Lela Jacobs has opened her first concept store – The Keep – on Auckland’s infamous K Rd.

The opening of her store was held on Thursday 22nd March to a small group of industry and family. The store will be open three days a weeks while Lela designs in the space for the remainder.

Her winter collection, entitled Manifesto of Uncertainty, draws inspiration from fabrics and textures, so silks, Japenese wools, and natural fibres like hand-knitted possum merino are key elements to her work.

She also pulls in the artistic side of her talents working alongside artists who will exhibit in her store. Present work by Shin Hun Mu includes beautifully hand drawn sketches which were produced especially for Lela.

As the definition above states, The Keep is a stronghold – a base for her creativity but also has the dual meaning that when you buy her items you will want to keep them.

To visit The Keep, go to 504 Karangahape Rd, or for more info go to www.lelajacobs.co.nz
