We’re loving: shopping at Mode.co.nz for fashion online

I love buying from local brands. But I also love the convenience, and cost-effectiveness, of shopping online from the couch. The best of both worlds is to be found at this New Zealand-owned boutique fashion website, Mode.co.nz, because it has by far the most NZ labels I’ve seen on a shopping site, all together in the one place.

The site, run from Christchurch by Joel Kendall (the IT brains) and Geraldine Shackleton (the fashion retail brains), was formerly known as RetailonSale – which launched in 2007 – and has re-branded at Mode as a multi boutique-style e-commerce platform. Thus customers can buy from a variety of labels in one transaction, rather than a single online shop. The majority at present are New Zealand brands with some Australian and international labels, too. Labels I wear all the time are well represented, including Ketz-ke, All About Eve, Converse, and many more – but I think it’s cool to see some labels that I wasn’t familiar with and to shop from them, as well.

What I like about Mode

They have fast couriers nationwide in 1-4 days, easy returns in up to ten days, a variety of clothes and accessories across brands so you can mix and match, and menswear too so you can shop for the whole household at once. It’d be great to see childrenswear added in the future I think!

Each label has its own section – as opposed to redirecting to another site for that brand – but there’s a uniformity across all labels in layout and functionality to make it easy to shop many labels in one transaction.

Thread also likes that they run a fashion blog to help customers see the current trends, and help them to put together looks they love.
