Meet the model: Bartender/model Ben Attwood talked to us about his favourite things, his strangest bartending experience and starting his own graphic design company…

In this week’s Meet the model, we chat with Bartender/model Ben Attwood about his favourite things, his strangest bartending experience, and starting his own graphic design company.

Age and height?

19 and 6’3’’.

Place of origin?

Raised on the coast, Whangaparaoa.

Background?

English family but I’m a born and bred Kiwi.

How were you discovered?

I was waiting for my bus on my way to class and a lady approached me asking if I had considered modeling. She turned out to be a scout and at the time I was flat broke so I jumped at the chance of cash. I found myself signing a contract with Nova the next day.

Brands you would like to model for?

Represent, I Love Ugly and Kingdomof, which are all dope, also my own clothing label in the near future (watch this space).

What’s your favourite music?

SchoolBoy Q, Danny Brown, David Dallas, Nas, Pusha T. Anything without Justin Bieber in it.

Places you would like to visit?

Ibiza, as a party island off the coast of Valencia sounds like a bit of me. Get my shuffle on and whatnot.

Tell us about your strangest bartending experience.

There’s a lot but it probably has to be the night I had to carry a passed out small Asian lady on my shoulder who then threw up down my back, while I was wearing a nun outfit. Yolo.

Favourite New Zealand designer?

I’m assuming this to be other than myself so it has to be Denise L’Estrange-Corbet and Francis Hooper of WORLD. Walking their shows is always a lot of fun! At my second ever runway show Mr Hooper gave me the low-down of the modeling industry which I won’t ever forget.

Favourite person/animal/thing ever?

Curry. Curry is my favorite thing ever.

What would you be spending most of your time doing this summer?

Chilling at the beach with the Wavy Gang brosefs and getting my graphic design label (Noir Sur Noir) off the ground. Also behind the bar at The Bluestone Room making sick lemon lime and bitters and giving water to drunk people. (check out Noir Sur Noir at www.facebook.com/NoirSurNoirDesign)

A beautiful person is…

Kim Dotcom.
