In this week’s Meet the Model, Larry Paing talked to Carl’Anton Giacomi, a free spirited traveller who was scouted earlier this year and signed to Red11 Models shortly after he arrived in New Zealand.

Age and height?
23 years old and 6’2”.

Place of origin?
Toulouse, France.

Ethnicity?
French & Corsican.

How were you discovered?
I crossed paths with Andrea Manahan, a fashion design student at the AUT and she introduced me to modelling. Then I walked into Red11 and the lovely people of Red11 decided that I was good enough to work with them.

What does being French mean to you?
For me French is just a nationality, somehow I am lucky because my passport lets me go wherever I want!

What is your favourite band/music?
My current mood at the moment goes for Grimes, Purity Ring (Canadian band), Flume (Australian) and how can I forget the New Zealand number one, Lorde.

Places you would like to visit?
I visited Australia (Queensland) last year and will go back next year to finish what I started. I also desire to visit Asia and have a taste of its culture.

Currently you are obsessed with…
Well, I have a crush for travelling, and I will be travelling around New Zealand in November so I’m excited about that.

Any lessons you learned from travelling?
You can actually learn so much from travelling but I will try to keep it short. You can learn a new language, discover a new environment and culture. You are bound to open your mind and that’s great. The more the people you meet, the more experience you will have.

Favourite New Zealand designer?
ZAMBESI, KOWTOW and NYNE because they gave me the opportunity to wear their outfits during NZ Fashion Week. James Dobson does a great job with JIMMY D, I’m fond of his dark look.

You have beautiful hair. Do you agree?
Yes, I really love it; having long hair is a lot of work but it’s worth it. Also, I would like to thank Sanja Glucina, a hair stylist from Organic System Color, for the time she spent on my hair!

Most beautiful person in your opinion is…
Someone who can accept himself and who doesn’t forget to share his love.
