The light and airy Moochi Conservatory opened at 282 Ponsonby Road on Wednesday 27th March with a party that spilled onto the footpath and got bemused smiles from passers-by at the waiters in overalls.
Inside, the small-but-perfectly-formed store uses white and crystal to great effect to showcase the hanging garments. Clothes hnag on golden hooks on long rods that move and sway – just gorgeous. The shop counter is faceted and shiny and a statement crystal light fitting hangs above as you walk in.
Television sets play moochi videos in each changing room and shelves display shoes, bags and accessories such as the black knotted cord necklace ($89).
Outside, photos of NZ model Ella adorn the windows in lifesize stickers. Male models dispensed drinks to guests whilst wearing the fun overalls that were used in their runway show at NZFW Fashion Weekend 2012.
