RUBY and Liam launched their Spring Summer 2014/15 collections today at Orphan’s Kitchen in Ponsonby.
The RUBY SS14 range, DIAMONDS, is inspired by “sunburnt deserts and a hit of retro Californian glamour.” Designer Deanna Didovich drew upon iconic imagery of Elizabeth Taylor and her love of diamonds – which not only names the collection but is a key theme and is emblazoned on python print sweatshirts – as well as slim cropped pants, pencil skirts, and off-the-shoulder necklines.

The Liam SS14/15 collection ‘INTERCHANGE’ is once again based upon architecture, influenced by the work of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s ‘wrapping’ works where they wrap monuments in fabric. Designer Emily Miller-Sharma also drew upon artist Phillip K Smith’s work ‘Lucid Stead’, of a wooden shack overlaid with mirrors reflecting the desert, in her silken garments inlaid with mirror detailing. The colour palette is a spring bouquet of pinks and peach and a dark purple, and summer showcases a rich red, blue and umber.
