On Wednesday 4th August, New Zealand fashion label Storm opened on Willis Street in the capital.

Willis Street was alive with the opening attended by Smashbox, Wellington fashion editors, stylists, and fashionable shoppers (including a nice amount of men, surprisingly).

Guests were treated to Marlborough Soho wines, mini sandwiches and goody bags which included the new Storm-designed mini Orly nail polish sets.

Storm founder and Creative Director Deborah Caldwell realised that there was a market in New Zealand for garments that were both fashion edge and affordable.

One feature of the Storm label is the use of prints especially on the floaty tops and dresses. Prints are sourced from artists in Australia and London and designs appear on fabric made exclusively for Storm. We loved the green print that had been introduced in a skirt and halter style silk looking dress. Tres Jolie – here’s to Spring!

Caldwell says “the Storm customer is 30 plus, is confident in herself and her sense of style. She doesn’t just follow trends but has her own style”. “STORM can be described as being sexy and feminine with an edge”.

To complement the range, Storm stocks jewellery by Boh Runga for NZ Mint, Dyrberg Kern, and edgy cocktail rings by Loumina.

The new Wellington store is an addition to their existing boutiques in Auckland and Christchurch.
