Thread writer, and Stylist, Reema Alfouir takes us behind the scenes styling the lookbook of Shh By Sadie’s Sueños del Sol Spring/Summer Collection 2012/13
I love Sadie Hawker’s jewellery label ‘Shh by Sadie’ for its perfect mix of edgy yet playful and feminine pieces.
Recently, I had the pleasure of styling the lookbook for “Suenos Del Sol.” Sadie’s Summer collection is inspired by the heat and vibrancy of Mediterranean nights. “Suenos Del Sol” is made up of chunky chains, hand-braided necklaces, and semi-precious gemstones. The collection has a bright colour palette, predominantly in turquoises, blues, hot pinks, corals, yellows and purples. As usual the pieces are handcrafted, and limited edition.
The photo-shoot flowed by like a breeze. We took Sadie’s car for a spin around Wellington city and shot at different locations including the waterfront. The beautiful Olivia Spratt modeled the collection, photographed by the incredibly talented Emily Roper of Clipic Ltd. Makeup artist Charlotte Redshaw aimed to keep the makeup natural using earthy, neutral tones and gold accents, which she complemented with slightly disheveled hair.
For the clothing, I chose Pony Mahoney and Misty Lang from Rex Royale, and the rest from Emporium Vintage. I stuck to bold colours and prints that contrasted with the jewellery in some looks and clashed with it in others. The lookbook was designed by Chris Bennewith.
