Qubic – build it and they will come!

Qubic’s first iteration was a welcome addition to the urban/street/sneaker retail line-up in Auckland and quickly became a destination for discerning sneakerfreaks and those looking for a more unique urban look without being plastered by brand logos.

So it was with some disappointment that I noticed the shop appeared to have closed. Fortunately, Qubic was closed for refurbishment and Frank has now reopened the store with a new look and a broader mix of products for local hipsters.

We attended the opening last night amongst an enthusiatic mix of hipsters, sneakerfreaks and well wishers.

The new look store comes across as a design store as much as a clothing store, and we found ourselves attracted to a great mix of sneakers (of course), accessories, clothing…

…and even decor items, like this awesome half-man half horse statue – also available in a lamp format.

Qubic’s interior is lighter, better segmented and easier to browse than the previous layout and includes some cool features that will keep even the non-sneakerfreak occupied while you browse.

Qubic has always appealed to a niche customer group; its encouraging to see that it has been successful and continues to be one of the main reasons we visit Newmarket.

Next time you’re on Broadway check them out opposite YooBee (where Khyber Pass meets Broadway.)
