YOGA WITH SOVEREIGN AND FOREVER FIT

Wednesday morning saw me rising early and feeling energised after a raw food breakfast by Monday Wholefoods and beachfront yoga session with Nicola Reilly of Foreverfit. Lifestyle and beauty media met at Takapuna Boating Club for an exclusive session with Sovereign’s Healthy Living Ambassador, Nicola Reilly from Foreverfit on mats utilising the main stretches we need to be healthy and injury free including a lunge, squat, twist and other stretches.  Sovereign have a great new focus on getting New Zealanders healthy. We got to hear from Chris of Sovereign about the unveiling of Sovereign’s latest proactive health initiative, the Sov Top, which is a rash vest to protect you from the sun and get you outdoors being active. It was refreshing to hear an insurance company taking an active interest (excuse the pun) in people’s health rather than just excluding people with diabetes or all heart problems from ever being insured.

RED SEAL ICED TEAS

I headed into Sale Street to the oddly-named Sweat Shop bar for the launch of Red Seal’s real fruit cold brewed teas. This is a fantastic idea as I love tea both hot and cold but wouldn’t drink the iced teas on the market that are basically like sugary soft drinks, and I’d never offer them to the children for that reason. These new ice teas can be made from cold water, as opposed to the regular way of hot water cooling down to make ice tea in the fridge. You can even add alcohol for the grown ups and make summery cocktails. They have no harmful additives, sugar or artificial colourings.

Blogger Libby, of Julia And Libby, demonstrating healthy summer iced teas with coconut water, chia seeds, and Red Seal teas.

Such a cool new idea: healthy ice tea without sugar or artificial colouring that you make with cold water.

COTTON ON QUEEN ST

Australian fashion brand Cotton On opened their mega store in the old Farmers store space on Queen Street Auckland with a small runway showcasing men’s, women’s, and children’s styles and a breakfast for media. A nice touch was getting our surnames printed on the backs of teeshirts in the goodybags!

AMBER WHITECLIFFE

Young designer Amber Whitecliffe held a Bloggers event instore in her pretty Parnell Road boutique on Thursday night to showcase her current Mrs Pinto collection and host fashion journalist Evelyn Ebrey. Evelyn, who incidentally covered Australian Fashion Week for Thread in 2013, interviewed Amber about her goals, her background, and her inspiration for the new range – which draws upon her marriage this year to become Mrs Pinto, to her husband of Indian and Portugese descent, resulting in a collection of red and white and floral prints. See all our photos here.
