Thread visited the brand new Ziera flagship on Broadway that is setting the standard for the roll-out of their new look stores. The stylish concept space hits you as you approach, with its horizontal and diagonal bare wood detailing giving it a clean, architectural look. Inside, the store fit-out is finished with lighting and fittings by New Zealand interior designers.

One of the obvious benefits of getting on the street and out of the Malls is the free on-site parking, which apparently all their loyal customers are raving about already. I liked that it was nice and close to my hair salon, Blaze – you can get your hair done and new shoes in one easy stop!

Thread chatted with the Ziera design team to find out about the key style themes coming through this season.

1. Bright colour in shoes has replaces last year’s neon colour trend.

2. Pops of bright colour are great to accent your outfit, such as with a yellow handbag.

3. Plum and wine tones are BIG news this winter.

4. Piping is used to great effect to trim a shoe’s lines.

5. Medium-height is added with an air-cushioned wedge heel for a stable and comfortable ‘lift.’

What we thought was really cool, was the adjoining space which is not full of shoes, but rather is a concept space for varying projects. In line with their approach to properly-designed footwear, there may be a foot-health specialist on site too. Future projects may include hosting bookclubs, women’s community groups, art exhibitions, creative colabs, morning teas, customer evenings, and many more ideas to come!
