Imagine owning 8,000 vintage gowns.
That’s what Charlotte Smith has in her impressive collection, and she brought just a few to show at ‘Black Tie from the Darnell Collection’ at iD Dunedin Fashion Week on 13th March.
The sold-out seated fashion show was held in iD-sponsor Golden Centre shopping mall in George Street, central Dunedin as part of the fashion week, with a full house eager to view the vintage gowns over a glass of Quartz Reef bubbles.
Betwixt the vintage segments, models walked wearing in-season fashion from Golden Centre retailers including RJB Design, I Love Paris shoes, HYPE (stockists of RJC, Ketz-ke, Thrive, Mild Red, NYNE and more) and Storm. Hair was styled by Just Cuts and makeup looks for the ICAN Models was by makeup artists from Health 2000.
Black Tie from the Darnell Collection is the third showing of Darnell vintage garments at iD and had a warm welcome with sighs of appreciation resounding around the room. One outfit even featured a Stephen Jones hat, pictured below, in honour of the international guest judge at iD this year, a hat which Charlotte Smith luckily found at a bric a brac store for a steal.
