Britomart Fashion: on top of the WORLD

WORLD’s show for the Britomart Fashion Sessions 2014 was probably the most anticipated show for many show-goers; not only because it was the very last fashion show of the event, but because there were whispers about the scale of the show before it even started.

World is known for their avant-garde dramatic style, seen in the many patterns and colours shown throughout the collection.

Pattern was seen in playsuits, styled with vibrant coloured belts, and in shiny metallic textured jackets paired with pants that had splashes of various colours, that created a pattern of their own.

Like the WORLD brand promises, every outfit had something of a quirky side to it.

The male models also showcased patterned pants and even a full polkadot suit, also with bright coloured belts.

Many of the outfits were styled with an outer layer including the use of cropped jackets and long coats that created length and gave a luxurious feel. The jackets were either cropped or worn longer in length, and very detailed, with excellent tailoring.

As with any WORLD collection, the makeup played a big part.

Created with the WORLD designers and the team at M.A.C Cosmetics, they went for an exaggerated look that consisted of the whole eye area covered in black glitter with vibrant red lips that were smudged across faces.

Just when the audience thought the show was complete, WORLD showcased their couture range ‘Superheroes of the WORLD’ with a big blast of golden metallic confetti that covered the stage. From neon suits with multi-dimensional headpieces to a black silk dress with a long red train, the nine Superheroes all had different and unexpected characters that were both witty and fearless.

The hairstyles that were created by Ryder also added extra texture and colour to every couture piece by using hair chalk and crimping irons to accentuate each eccentric personality of the Superhero.

My favourite piece was a fitted princess-line bodice dress with a french collar and power shoulders that had long strings of hair covering the whole skirt and cuffs that created an amazing shape, a version of the classic high-class Victorian Dress.

Overall the show was exciting, loud and full with a happy crowd that were inspired and that applauded throughout the entire event.

This year at the Britomart Fashion Session 2014, WORLD created the perfect stage that showcased what the brand stands for- ‘Factory of Ideas and Experiments’, that dressed not only the body, but the mind.
