In a novel marketing move, Number One Shoes staged a AW13 runway show then had models give boots away to the public at their ‘Catwalk to Sidewalk’ event in Britomart today.
Media gathered alongside a raised catwalk in Agents & Merchants bar on Customs Street East as the public also lined up – next to the bus stop bearing the advert for the free boots giveaway. Social media had been put to good use with promos doing the rounds on Facebook, #catwalktosidewalk spreading the word on Twitter.
The catwalk show showcased the five main season trends: Military Precision, Opulence, Sports Luxe, Texas Trail, and Tough Love. Models wore labels Now & Then, Pardon My French and Julian Danger, and swapped out different headwear for each look to complement the shoes. Hats were all by Luella from Number One Shoes.
At about 11.30 there were 30 people lined up which grew to over 60 after the catwalk show when the models walked out with a pair in each hand followed by Starseed PR’s team with bags of free new season boots to giveaway. Of course some people were grateful and some weren’t – asking for different colours and sizes. You can’t please all the people all the time.
Check out the new season shoes and boots online at www.numberoneshoes.co.nz and instore.
