Mothers and daughters united at Desire in Hunter Street in Wellington for an evening showcasing a range of new season winter collections, with owner Shelia Murray saying she sees a new trend in "mothers and daughters shopping more together."

Even the power cut in the capital during the afternoon did not stop the evening going ahead, with mother and daughter duos modelling new season collections.

Our favourite was a white tuxedo jacket by Blessed Are the Meek as modelled on the walkway.

Cocktails were mixed and shaken by Pam McIlwarth and guests were looked after by the lovely Nina Corleison who greeted them at the door.

Ed Hardy debuted at the show, with Desire being the capital’s only stockist. "It fits in nicely with how Shelia Murray merchandises her collections, including the labels such as Miss Sixty and Diesel" said Cathie Bryant, Ed Hardy Wholesale Manager, who attended the evening.

Desire stocks a range of labels including OYL, Trelise Cooper, Blessed Are The Meek, Metalicus, Sabatini, Women Design, Augustine, and Isakelle.

New season collections feature warm cosy knits and leggings. Casting an eye over the colours and patterns on the racks, it is evident that shoulders are still slightly big and checks and animal prints have been well patronised by designers. Viva Decarnin at Balmain. Colours for the season include a wide palette of greys and dusty mauve which is becoming a focal point for the season as well as pops of purples, yellows and oranges. There is also a revival of the 40’s including pencil skirts and wearing eveningwear as daywear has become a trend, especially if the garment has feather or sequin detailing. Anything McQueen-inspired also seems to go.

To shop, visit Desire on Hunter Street, Wellington.
