The final show at Wellington Fashion Week 2013 was a collaboration shared by deNada, Superminx and Mandatory. Held in the Foxglove Ballroom with lashings of Te Hana bubbles, the space was perfect for the finale. The wooden floor and large ballroom area created a natural stage for the three collections at the midday show on Saturday 7th April.
DeNada
We saw patterned fabrics and flattering tunics in bright colourways. The multi-coloured wrap dress was a highlight which would suit most women and is a favourite go-to piece for work or play. deNada consistently listens to the feedback of their customers to create flattering and wearable pieces for real women who appreciate well-made clothing.

Mandatory
There is never enough menswear in the limelight. Mandatory gave us a teaser which we certainly want more of. Muted dark burgundy had replaced black as a key colour. Shirt detail was visible from the back, sitting free under jackets. Styling was simple but handsome with scarves and beanies. Mandatory are renown for producing garments with attention to tailoring and long life. The Rebel without a Cause Winter ’13 range is no exception. A Robert Downey lookalike appeared and modeled the garments well.

SUPERMINX
You can never have too many shoes. Luckily for us, Superminx shoes have a large range to choose from. We liked the patent black leather numbers; patent always looks so smart. There was plenty of colour in the collection including purple, and faux animal print in grey/white, aqua, mustard and orange. Most of the shoes and boots had a substantial heel and it looks like knee-high boots will continue to feature prominently for Winter 2013.

Overall the Group Show worked well with shoes, bags and accessories linking the three designers. Loved the hair on both the female and male models. Updos could be created at home with some clever back-combing, bobby pins and spray. Plaits and fishtails were striking, too.
