From Misery to Happiness. In three easy steps…

Thursday night 2 June saw the Cuda Sisters launch their first collection at the K Rd Ballroom.

We were treated to cocktails as we came in with one of the ‘Sisters’ Tanja-Jade (previously known as Misery) dressed in sunny yellow with a stuffed banana skirt!

It was the start of a very sunny, glittery, happy evening.

The Cuda Sisters are Megan and Tanja-Jade Thompson and Mana Harkness – three wonderfully talented girls.

It was a huge show, with 25 models made-up with individual make-up and hair looks by the teams from The Body Shop and Cocomo Haircutters.

The show was done in three parts, with the first having a great jungle theme – hardly any jungle green though – instead there were fushia swimsuits with alligators, floaty navy patterned short dresses with shoestring straps (which we loved), ¾ length Capri pants in vibrant pinks and purples, with figure hugging leopard print dresses thrown in. We loved the sequinned bomber jacket in leopard print as well. Part one finished with a leopard print body suit with a skirt made of gold stuffed bananas over the top for good measure…

Part two had a heavily nautical theme with sailor hats and epaulettes, pirate eye patches and gold hoop earrings.

And a lot of gold glitter thrown in for good measure! It started off with a bang with the first piece to come down – a gorgeous ballsy dress in black, orange, pink and blue with a huge bow at the back that trailed on the floor. Not a dress for the faint hearted…

also tailored lace dresses and jackets. A little white dress with multi coloured dots – no tame navy and white here – why have only two colours when you can have them all! Sassy sequinned shorts and orange georgette.

Part three had a ‘mermaid’ quality about – beautiful gilded girls to steal your hearts, in dresses to die for…flirty little party dresses – orange lace shifts with fuchsia accessories, pink floral cotton dresses, orange swimsuits.

A very beautiful cream sequin dress – their take on this season’s (summer) must have.

And to finish it all off gold leggings with a red sequinned top – styled with a red crab claw – fashion to grab you.

Hardly a drop of black to be seen anywhere – is this a New Zealand collection?

Instead, we are treated to every colour and combination imaginable. Happiness you can wear…
