Jena Theo AW13 collection
‘The girls stood in a group, wearing bright lipstick and the blank, wary expressions of half bright souls turned mean and nervous from too much bitter wisdom in too few years.’
-Hells Angel, Hunter S Thompson.
There are no words that could better describe the vision of Jena Theo’s show presented at the Portorio room of Somerset House.
Girls with bright red lips, killer patent pink-red platforms and sleeked hair parted to the side marched down the catwalk with attitude wearing bold colours of fuschia, orange and green mixed with black.
The graffiti smiley face graphic on the front of my invitation became an iconic symbol of the collection, discreetly scattered through floral motifs, printed on oversized dresses, and displayed across the wall.
The only thing distracting me from the ‘don’t mess with me’ subject was the venue. I imagine the show would be much more dramatic in a spacious warehouse with dim lighting; however it didn’t take away from the aesthetics of the designs.
Any case of the winter blues would most definitely be cured wearing these colours.
