Karen Walker Garden People at New York Fashion Week September 2014

Garden People
Karen Walker was back at Pier 59 studios in New York City today to showcase the earthy and floral Garden People SS15 collection.
The sophisticated, yet elegantly tailored pieces showcased Karen Walker’s take on Britain’s gardening culture from post World War II through to the 70s.
Hair and Makeup
The models mostly wore their hair out with a slight wave, by Laurent Philippon for Bumble and bumble – some with a loose quiff. Others completed the gardening look with floral scarfs wrapped around their necks and heads sitting under straw hats.
Make up was naturally flawless by Benjamin Puckey for SEPHORA along with nails by Jin Soon.
Glamour Gardeners
A Lo-fi soundtrack perfectly matched the scene as terracotta and clay colours came out in patchwork material, weathered pinafores and floor length flared trousers. Other fabrics were textured yet soft on the eye, and included denim with exposed top-stitching and suede.
Karen Walker’s signature ripple is back being the main feature on a navy bonded cotton dress and top.
Signature prints on sky blue and yellow fabric, featured large floral scenes of wildflowers and lily ponds.
To keep you warm during the cool transition to spring, earthily-coloured lightweight coats made a standout impression on the catwalk.
Advanced Style
The Advanced Style models sat front row and looking ever so fabulous – one can only dream to have that much style.

While this season may be a little while away, I personally can’t wait for the Lily pond dress, a light blue and floral cotton dress with a cross back to keep you cool on those summer days.
