Leaving one job behind for a fresh new beginning can be a catalyst for great things. Designer Laurinda Sutcliffe’s creativity has poured out into her label, ‘Loobie’s Story’, since leaving a long history behind her at one of New Zealand’s biggest clothing producers, High Society.
In Loobie’s Story, Laurinda Sutcliffe told us she wants to create clothes that women can hang on to for years to come – that won’t be just for one season and one ‘look.’ They are a little bit exotic, recalling tropical islands and warmer climates with beautiful flowers expressed in the silky prints.
These themes were apparent in her latest collection, ‘Yin and Yang’, which we saw on the runway at a media launch fashion show at Snapdragon bar today at the Auckland Viaduct. The Bali-inspired decor set the scene for the summery prints and feminine, floaty layers.
Models were styled by Karen Inderbitzen-Waller, makeup by Jules Armishaw, and all models were from Clyne. For stockists see www.loobiesstory.co.nz
