US jeans label NYDJ showed summer and winter looks at a catwalk show for buyers and media at Orams Marine, showcasing why Not Your Daughter’s Jeans have taken off to be the 2nd biggest jeans sales in the US after Levi’s.

Alison Leonard MCd the showcase of models, styled by Lulu Wilcox, and accessorised with tops and scarves from the other labels in the stable of brands imported by Rick Ball of Ball Agencies.

A workshop was held for buyers after the fashion show where buyers could see the fabrics and colours up close and learn about the brand’s usp for their customers.

We were pleasantly surprised at the real life-sized models. Any pair of jeans can look good on a model who is a size 6 and nearly 6 feet tall! So it was a brave, and fair move to put the clothing on standard sized models. We are all for that!

We got to see the range of colours the jeans are available in, including white, eggplant, navy and chocolate, though it was fairly obvious from the audience, who were all dressed in black, that the standard dark navy and black denims would be the pick of the bunch.

There was a quick showing of the summer styles, with capris, and bootlegs. The winter had lots of embellished pockets, bootlegs, but mostly straight legs. Our favourites were their version of ‘jeggings’; Much more discrete than the Supre versions where we always want to tell girls any larger than a size 10 to cover their backsides! The NYDJ version would be great on its own but would also give you a great smooth line under a tunic, or long cardigan.

There is much to be said for a higher waistline, especially in jeans, and NYDJ do this really well. Just because low slung may be fashionable to some doesn’t mean it should be worn by everyone. Few woman can wear them after childbirth. Hurray for the tummy holding (and butt holding) properties of NYDJ. They retail between @$240 -$345. You can’t put a price on pert backside and a flatter stomach, now can you?
