Wellington restaurant Pravda’s first fashion show was a huge success, mixing fine dining with runway shows from Andrea Moore and im Designer Bodywear. The event, held on Saturday 26 May, offered a stunning display of fashion finery, with a portion of the ticket sales donated to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Pravda’s Restaurant Manager, Glen Houston, had been pondering events to host in the inner-city bistro for a while, when he brought Functions Manager Antoinette Lathbury-Axford in on the plan. Antoinette moved quickly, offering coffee regulars Andréa van der Meel from im and Alexis Jackson from Andrea Moore the opportunity to collaborate.
Andrea and Alexis jumped at the chance and the event was moved forward fairly quickly from there. In just over a month, the glamorous event came together, and with half an hour still to spare a swarm of eager fashionistas began to gather in the café lobby.
We were treated to a glass of Deutz Prestige and mouth-watering canapes from the kitchen as Alexis introduced the Andrea Moore AW12 collection. It took all my strength not to run down to the store after the show and buy up the shop. Every outfit in the collection was to die for, with pieces that could take you from corporate to casual glam any day of the week. A highlight was the beautiful range of coats in vibrant colours, a must-have for the cooler months to come.
Our second course of fashion feasting was provided by im Designer Bodywear, which offers luxury lingerie from international brands. With exquisite detailing and oozing old-fashioned glam, im displayed why it’s known throughout Australasia as ‘simply the best – undressed’. Delicate lace trims and carefully placed cut-outs created the perfect balance of sweet and sexy, while high-waisted panties and garter belts gave a nod to retro glamour.
The crowd were delighted with both shows, and their sumptuous surroundings. I was just as impressed, and Glen promises another fabulous collaboration is on the cards for the near future.
