Despite Auckland photographer Robin Smith shooting a nailgun through his hand and not being able to attend his own launch, the party at Smith Studios went ahead last night.
Robin Smith’s friends, family and industry guests gathered in the Kingsland studio for drinks and music, with two catwalk shows bringing the designs of Doosh and Trix & Dandy to walk the red carpet.
MC Helena McAlpine was by far the best MC we’ve heard, entertaining the crowd with her charm and patter, and filling us in on how Robin shot himself through the hand erecting a large tree in the studio to decorate for the party and was in hospital on morphine. Luckily, Anna Jobsz was able to get hold of Amber Peebles to bring a cable link to show Robin the party and the guests could hear his voice from his hospital bed.

Guests enjoyed a selection of wines from Amor-Bendall, Tiger Beer, and iced tea from Teza. Thread’s favourite Teza is the divine Velvet Berry.
Designers Theresa Brady of Doosh and Michael Pattison of Trix & Dandy, both wearing their own labels.
The smart and sassy new look Doosh on the catwalk. Doosh is New Zealand’s longest-running stretwear label and designer Theresa Brady has relaunched it this Spring Summer season with a revamped look and fresh style. We like.

Actors Will Hall and Gina Varela. Will wears his Netherwood tee-shirt promoting the "modern Western" he has made in Canterbury with fellow Shortland Street actor, Owen Black. Shot entirely on a Canon still camera’s movie function, the film needs funding to be released, so they are planning a tour of screenings in New Zealand small towns.
