Over dinner at White in the Hilton Auckland, Next magazine hosted ‘Catwalk Couture’, a salon-style fashion show of the latest NZ designer looks for summer with a worthy addition – nine pink dresses to be auctioned on Trademe for Breast Cancer month.
Models walked in twenty one outfits showcasing SS10 trends from top New Zealand labels including Cybele, Kate Sylvester, Stitch Ministry, Never Black, Blak, Annah Stretton, Riddle Me This, Deborah Sweeney, and Vaughan Geeson.
The designer outfits joined outfits from Farmers’ labels Switch, Eight by Table Eight, Harlow, and Essence. The show, part of 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty, also included a talk by a makeup artist on how to make the trends work for you, the latest looks from Max Factor and hot tips from Beauty Director, Trudi Brewer.
Below: Nothing sums up spring fashion like – you guessed it – florals. The girls are coming up roses in summer’s blooming beautiful prints.
The floor of White restaurant became the runway for the models in between courses of the three course dinner.
Next magazine Editor Christina Sayers Wickstead welcomed guests and commented on how two of the season’s big trends are colour and lots of it, and double denim – wearing two shades of denim together, both of which showed up in the evening’s show.
Below: Six of the pink dresses donated to Next by designers for auction on Trademe to benefit Breast Cancer Foundation. The designers who either created a one-off dress, or gave one made in pink from their current collection, in various sizes, are Juliette Hogan, Moochi, Alexandra Owen, Helen Cherry, Liz Mitchell, Annah Stretton, Zambesi, World, and Cybele. The pink dresses star on the cover of the latest Next magazine in a celebrity shoot.
We’re loving Laura’s platinum blond locks especially with the nude pink gown.
The show was styled by Chris Lorimer, Sarah Jane Hough and the Ciel PR team, using shoes from Chaos and Harmony, Lost not Lonely, and Farmers.

The writing’s on the wall: the model order list.
You can bid right now for one of the pink dresses on Trademe. As they say, "Think pink, wear pink, save lives!"
