Fashion label twoWORLDS in its very name shows its nature: it combines the two worlds of Bali with its ikat fabric, with New Zealand, where the garments are designed.
twoWORLDS showed its AW13 collection at Wellington Fashion Week in the Group Collections Showcase on Thursday 4th April, alongside Trelise Cooper, moochi, Taylor boutique, STORM, Sabatini at Goodness, and Mondegreen.
The union between the Balinese and New Zealand cultures was evident in the traditional Balinese fabrics which are pattern-made and sewn into the NZ-designed womenswear.
Each metre of ikat fabric takes around a day to make and workers are paid fairly by this ethically-conscious label who ensures firsthand that working conditions are fair and fairly paid. This seems to a strong theme in Wellington with fashion designers, as Starfish and Kowtow also take a prominent stand against fast-fashion and sweatshop production. Well done to all these labels.
