I thought the second day of my VAMFF adventure was off to a bad start when I left my coat at the salon pre-show (they kindly found and kept it for me) but InStyle, true to their form, delivered a show that was well worth the wait. The Festival’s Premium Runway 2 showcased 8 designers namely Aurelio Costarella, Easton Pearson, Hardwick, Megan Park, Rachel Gilbert, Thurley, and New Zealand’s very own Kate Sylvester and Trelise Cooper.

Casually put by a festival-goer, this particular show is practically the polar opposite of Premium Runway 1 which is more androgynous in nature. With lace, velvet, floral accessories, pops of fuchsia, and more lace – this show is undeniably feminine.

Below: Here, designer Megan Park proves that A/W collections need not be lacklustre.

I wanted to carry on selecting my favourite runway accessory just as I picked a favourite from the opening show and though hats still hold a special place in my heart (wide-brimmed hats, my current obsession, made an appearance again today), the metallic footwear at Megan Park (above and below) gets tonight’s vote.

Below: Rachel Gilbert. And while I’m rambling on about my personal favourites, tonight’s yummiest hue goes to this evening wear in the second best shade of green, pistachio (what could dominate over emerald, really?)

Of course Trelise Cooper put on a fantatically styled show. Though some pieces seem to be borderline costume-y, there’s no denying her detailing; excellent craftsmanship’s her strongest suit.

And I saved the best for last. THURLEY, OH THURLEY… how do I even begin to explain my love for this collection?! Call me biased but this off-white knit dress and gorgeous white jumpsuit…way too good.

Here’s a little more dissection of what went down yesterday:

VAMFF HITS:

– The incredible off-site show a.k.a. the stunner sunset pre-Runway 2

– Tight security. Now others might find this annoying but I find it rather impressive that people actually follow protocol.

– With 14% battery life left, my iPhone powered through the whole show.

– Again, the free coffee courtesy of LAVAZZA – cannot.stress.this.enough.

VAMFF MISSES:

– Them plastic flower embellishments. Rachel Gilbert’s impeccable gown (pictured below) can totally do without that floral addition.

– Day two of VAMFF and still no Nicole Warne (Gary Pepper Girl) encounter. The fangirl in me is dying.

Next up on our agenda is the only stand-alone show throughout the festival – The Grand Showcase featuring Camilla presented by AMP Capital. Everyone seems to be frothing about this show, for obvious reasons. It promises to be a dramatic runway show with 60 exits, a 48m printed runway, and a LIVE music collaboration, with Megan Gale and L’Oreal Ambassador, Eva Longoria, seated on the front row seats.
