VAMFF Day 3

Thread is on location at Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) and our reporter Diane Pantoja brings us daily reports and highlights…

grand

/grand/ adjective: magnificent and imposing in appearance, size, or style.

This might be a big call to make but VAMFF may have reached its peak yesterday with the Grand Showcase presented to us by AMP Capital – featuring Camilla’s AW 2014 Collection beautifully entitled ‘And God Created Woman’. It was a show like no other. Despite starting a bit late, it was evident that it was worth seeing regardless because the atmosphere within the room was just pumping.

Guests, including L’Oreal Paris Global Ambassador Eva Longoria, Megan Gale, Graeme Lewsey, Montana Cox and fashion and industry media, were welcomed and ushered into the room with dim lighting instead of the usual white, bright lights. Some pre-show favorites would have to be the fully printed, not to mention exclusively designed, 48 metre runway and the seat cushions (to go with the goody bag) for those seated on the VIP section that has the fabulous ‘Camilla-stamp’ all over it.

And then the music starts playing… but because it’s The Grand Showcase we’re talking about, of course pre-recorded tunes won’t suffice. Models paraded down the catwalk accompanied by LIVE music composed by exceptional muso, Jonathon Dreyfus, and played by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

The whole show escalated quickly once the first look came out and it kept getting better and better as models dressed in the most incredible and detail-oriented Camilla ensembles graced the runway.

Can’t move past how INCREDIBLY DETAILED the whole show is. Camilla Frank’s passion for her craft was so evident as every look and every element that was a part of the show was so well put together, it was like magic.

As much as I want to rave about the clothes, I won’t stick to raving solely about the clothes- because an exceptional pool of professionals stood behind Camilla to make her vision come to life. Respect and admiration goes to the team: Stylist Mark Vassallo, Hair Director L’Oréal Professionnel VAMFF Hair Director Brad Ngata, and L’Oreal Paris Make-up Director Elsa Morgan.
