Presented by The Herald Viva magazine, last night’s show at New Zealand Fashion Festival presented some of the hottest local designers, whose collections have been seen at Fashion Week last September alongside chainstore looks, all styled together to present a cohesive and inspiring show to a crowd that clearly love fashion.

With labels from Trelise Cooper to high-street favourite Max all presenting their current Autumn/Winter collections, it was great to see seasonal clothes on the runway, and know that all the looks can currently be found in stores. The discount vouchers from each of the designers are encouragement to go out and purchase desired pieces in the coming week!

The styling helped to bring the diverse looks together, with lush, wintery accessories featuring throughout the show. Scarves, boots and interesting hosiery evoked the glamour of the colder seasons. Many looks featured coats, from glamorous fur and sequins from Yvonne Bennetti to a covetable double-breasted navy number from Max.

Fur, leather, and sheer layers featured in collections from Juliette Hogan (below) and The Carpenter’s Daughter, while Andrea Moore and Carlson presented inspired colour palettes and strong looks.

Vanilla Ink showed a highly wearable collection dominated by patterns and interesting fabrics.

Trelise Cooper and Yvonne Bennetti (below) were both characteristically glamorous, with sequins, fur and feathers creating some stunning looks.

Tkstore was a standout, with Turet Knuefermann’s body conscious designs invoking effortless style and luxury.

A highlight of the night was a beige ensemble from Tkstore, worn by Danielle Hayes, which featured an amazing cape/jacket;

Other highlights included everything from Juliette Hogan’s range, from perfect dresses to incredible separates; sequined pants by Yvonne Bennetti; and a beautiful blue maxi from Max, the high point of their sometimes underwhelming selection.

With a show that went for over an hour, and featured nine designers, as well as a performance from the very beautiful Annabel Fay and delicious Chambord cocktails, the Viva Fashion Festival Collections night was a great example of how the glamour of New Zealand fashion can be shared and experienced by the public, focusing on the fans and followers who help keep the industry alive.
