These four labels are all Wellington designers with clothes that are on trend, wearable and have loyal followers. A pop up shop was launched featuring the four with additions by designers Julian Danger and Miss Abigail. Together, the labels sit and market well together.
They are not the show pony labels of NZ but are growing at a healthy rate, taking their time to move through the seasonal ranges, building a loyal customer base and developing their aesthetic. There appears to be little competition between the four as they are distinct in their own choice of fabric, colourways and garment preference.
Collaboration-type events are increasing over New Zealand. This is an economical, business and customer savvy approach to growing a platform acoss the market. Increasingly so, as rent for commerical property and retail is sky high and out of reach for many creatives.
Willis York consistently hosts successful functions. Bex Brett, owner, (pictured below) supports business growth for up-and-coming artists, hairdressers and designers.
And Willis York is a top hair salon too, let’s not forget that. Interiors at Willis York are note worthy. Exposed piping and industrial features make for an interesting and inspiring visit. I am considering changing hair salons and careers so I can apply to join the team at Wills York.
I loved theTartan Bel-Air Pants in red and black tartan, and velvet tops by philipa&alice – they’d be a welcome addition in any wardrobe. Mix and match and pare back with the navy and black silk shirt dress.
Catering by One Cup of Love was enjoyed by the full house. Models with 60’s hair bouffanted and beehived amongst guests. The DJ hit the spot mixing up-beat beats keeping guests entertained. Cocktails were mixed in-house at the haircolour station which doubled as a bar area. Broken Shed vodka was central; the coffee cocktail was unbeatable
