It was no coincidence that my photo autocorrected Helen ‘Cherry’ to ‘Cheery’, in light of her pretty and feminine Summer collection at Marr Factory last night. I particularly liked the printed summery dresses in polkadots. Also, as Anny Ma next to me pointed out, aptly for her name the models walked on a cherry-red carpet, instead of the usual chalk-drawn concrete floors, bringing a touch of luxe to the Golden Dawn bar floor.

WORKSHOP stayed true to their rock n’ roll aesthetic with plenty of black denim, studded belts, and even hand-painted tattoos on topless male models and bikini-and-beanie wearing female models. So cool.

With makeup, the face featured a strong lip, created in MAC Morange lipstick by Amber D of MAC Cosmetics. Hair was by Lauren Gunn and team at Stephen Marr, worn long and straight around the face and pulled back into a loose folded-up pony tail at the nape of the neck.

Here are photos from the iconic New Zealand brands owned by husband and wife Chris and Helen Cherry – WORKSHOP and Helen Cherry – at the in-season show on Wednesday 28th August. International brands including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Isobel Marant were also showed, as they are stocked at WORKSHOP stores.
